1. Why do words matter?
Those who do not study history are destined to repeat it. Through words—through books—we preserve our cultural heritage for the next generation. Through words, we find a form of immortality. Without them, that hard-won wisdom is lost.
But words can be used to hurt as well as instruct. Ask any bullied teen, or heart-broken author who’s stories have been torn apart by trolls in the reviews/chat rooms. There’s a power to words, both good and bad, and we who wield them have a moral obligation to respect that power.
